Very nice post/thread, Random. Thank you a lot for this.

Yeah, we wtill can't change things on our server atm because our host is doing maintenance (and changed our ftp password). Anyway, our host is doing this to fix our major lag problem so : wait and see :)

for the same reason we cannot fix the redirect, we don't currently have access to the FTP so cannot change the server package list
Oh, bummer...

Well I hopeyou get it sorted out soon, it's always fun to play on your servers with the people that are visiting it.

Don't know if this is of any use to anyone, but I've had no problem with maps because I use a cache manager that installs any new map downloads permanently so that they are installed to the correct directories (maps can be used off line as well if you want to). I do understand that folks who don't use the FFM server that often may not have some of the maps.

Anyway, it's a useful utility (there are several available - I use the first one).

Another (plus other useful tools!):

Lastly, just 'cos I'm talking utilities (!) ... I have my full installation of UT2004 mirrored on an external drive. *IF* I ever need to
reinstall, I just copy over the mirror, and setup the registry with this utility:

http://spaz.s5.com/

No need to do a full install, and no need to play with the ini files (also backed up) any of the game settings or binds, as they are already there!

I've even took my external drive into work, run this registry program, and played the installation straight from the
external drive without having to install or configure a thing ... works a treat! Just thought they may be useful to anyone interested. =)
